Fundraising news: Brenda Campbell to run Liverpool marathon for INQUEST
28 April 2014
We are delighted that Brenda Campbell, longstanding INQUEST supporter and member of the INQUEST Lawyers Group, is running the Rock n Roll Liverpool marathon on 25 May in aid of INQUEST.
Her 26.2 mile endeavour is particularly poignant in light of the Hillsborough inquests and she plans to salute each of the 96 as she runs past Anfield.
INQUEST is providing support to the Hillsborough families and their representatives as they go through the inquest process. At the same time we are maintaining a nationwide caseload on a greatly reduced budget due to funding cuts, to provide support and assistance to the hundreds of bereaved families facing inquests into deaths in custody or following police contact across the country.
Please support Brenda in this impressive undertaking! Her donation page is here
‘I was already working with INQUEST, which is the organisation who monitor deaths in custody, and at one AGM I told the audience that what happened to these people [killed in police custody like Chistopher Alder, Roger Sylvester and many others] could happen to any of us. And then a couple of years later, I was standing in front of them again but now it had happened to my cousin. So my family and me were now “users” of Inquest. It shows you that none of us are immune – here am I, Benjamin Zephaniah, patron of INQUEST and client of INQUEST at the same time.’
