  INQUEST Lawyers Group

The INQUEST Lawyers Group (ILG) exists to support the work of INQUEST and further its objectives.

The ILG is a national pool of lawyers who are willing and able to provide preparation and legal representation for bereaved families. Standard membership is open to all lawyers who represent bereaved families and share INQUEST's objectives outlined below. The ILG also promotes and develops knowledge and expertise in the law and practice of inquests by providing training and acting as a forum for the exchange of ideas and experience. It also furthers the objectives of INQUEST by campaigning for law reform and public funding to cover representation for the bereaved at inquests.

Members of INQUEST Lawyers Group receive a subscription to Inquest Law magazine which is published three times a year. Standard-level members members (see below) who are practitioners and support INQUEST's aims and objectives also receive advice and assistance on inquest law, procedure and practice as well as background on relevant cases, related campaign, policy and research work. They are invited to join a specialist private email list for this purpose. Standard-level members of the ILG also receive complimentary membership of INQUEST, the annual report and invitations to INQUEST annual general meetings.

The INQUEST Lawyers group also benefits from regular invitations to meetings hosted by leading professionals and practitioners.
