Help and Advice

How we can help you
INQUEST operates a casework service for those bereaved after a death in custody – police, prison, psychiatric detention and immigration. If someone you know has died in custody, please click here to contact our casework team

We also offer advice to bereaved families or friends facing an inquest in England and Wales through our Information Pack.

Information Pack
The pack provides information on inquest system in an easy to use format. Designed for bereaved people, their friends, staff in advice and information centres and those working with bereaved people in a supportive role, it offers a comprehensive guide to the current system. It is also excellent for lawyers needing accessible background information. Inside, there are many useful numbers and lots of information about organisations that offer specialist, thorough and relevant advice, and a clear explanation of terms and procedures. Click on the links below to read the relevant sections.

We value your feedback on how useful the Information Pack has been to you and would appreciate you filling in our feedback form. Since its launch in August 2004, the complete information pack has been downloaded over 25,000 times (up to the end of May 2008).
